ABOUT ALBERT'S CONTENT TEAM

The "Content Team" maintains and grows Albert's vast course library. We manage freelance authors to design, edit, and publish high-quality practice and assessment questions used in thousands of classrooms. Albert's Content Team includes two subteams:

1. STEM Team - responsible for all math, science, and computer science content on Albert.

2. Humanities Team - responsible for all ELA, literature, social studies, and world languages content on Albert.

Our crew of self-identified nerds collaborates to provide teachers with 170,000+ practice questions across Core, AP, SAT/ACT, and state exam subjects. We're the type of people who could spend hours obsessing over the minute differences among various curricula or standards. Everyone on our team is a former classroom teacher dedicated to providing rigorous, inclusive, and standards-aligned digital practice content to the educators who trust us.

THE ROLE: K–5 ELA CURRICULUM MANAGER

Albert is planning to enter the elementary space—and we’re looking for an experienced educator to help us build it.

While we’ve built a strong foundation for middle and high school, our current content library includes very little for elementary learners. That’s where you might come in.

We're seeking a K–5 ELA Curriculum Manager (internally called a “Content Manager”) who is excited by the challenge of building a new suite of elementary subjects from the ground up, particularly focused on 3rd through 5th grade English Language Arts. You'll guide the development of rigorous, standards-aligned, and pedagogically sound materials that reflect the latest best practices in elementary instruction.

Your work will directly contribute to our mission of making Albert a single platform districts can use across nearly all grade levels, enabling teachers from elementary through high school to support students with meaningful, cohesive practice and assessment.

FIRST BIG PROJECT

You’ll lead the vision and execution of a brand-new adaptive experience for ELA grades 3–5. This will involve close collaboration with our Product Team to reimagine how digital learning should work for younger students—recognizing that their needs and behaviors are very different from the secondary learners our platform currently serves.

This is not a role for someone who wants a roadmap handed to them—it’s for someone excited to design the map, get buy-in, and build the path forward. While you’ll have significant autonomy, you won't be building in a silo; you'll work in close partnership with peers and leaders across our Content Team who are committed to supporting your vision.

START DATE

We are interested in candidates who can start this role ASAP (ideally Summer 2025).

PRIORITY DEADLINE & HIRING PROCESS

The hiring process will include an initial interview, a writing sample task, and a final interview.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build Albert’s elementary ELA offerings. Plan, edit, and publish 3rd–5th grade practice content aligned to foundational reading, comprehension, and writing standards.
  
  

• Manage freelancers. Recruit, train, and manage a group of freelance elementary educators to help create scalable, premium-quality content with age-appropriate explanations.
  
  

• Ground everything in best practice. Apply a deep understanding of the Science of Reading and other best practices to ensure materials reflect evidence-based literacy instruction for elementary learners.
  
  

• Collaborate cross-functionally. Help inform product and platform decisions to better serve elementary teachers. You’ll be a trusted voice helping us develop content and features that reflect the unique needs of K–5 classrooms.
  
  

• Embrace and leverage AI (responsibly). Use generative AI tools to accelerate content workflows while maintaining high standards of creativity, clarity, and instructional rigor that only human experts can provide.
  
  

• Support interdisciplinary growth. While ELA is your main focus, your insight into other elementary domains will help shape future products and subjects.
  
  

• Drive continuous improvement. Maintain and refine internal style guides, author rubrics, and workflow systems to support quality and consistency.
  

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Competitive salary and performance-based raises. The starting salary for this role is $70,000. We observe the same pay bands regardless of where you live. We also offer clearly defined performance metrics and checkpoints for raises and promotions.

MUST HAVES

• At least THREE years of K–5 ELA teaching experience. You’ve taught elementary ELA and know what it takes to help students become confident readers and writers. You bring deep knowledge of the Science of Reading—including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—and have experience supporting both early and upper-elementary learners.
  
  

• Experience developing standards-aligned content. You’ve created rigorous, inclusive lessons or assessments aligned to Common Core or state-specific standards, and you know how to translate both standards and text complexity into effective, classroom-ready practice.
  
  

• Comfort across elementary subjects. In addition to ELA, you’ve taught or contributed to instruction in other domains like K-5 math, science, or social studies, and you enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration.
  
  

• Tech agility. You quickly pick up new digital tools, and onboarding to 15+ platforms across our Albert projects doesn’t overwhelm you. You enjoy figuring things out and improving existing workflows.
  
  

• AI comfort, discernment, and excitement to learn more. You’re already using—or eager to explore—artificial intelligence tools to streamline your workflow, while knowing when your own instructional judgment and creativity should take precedence over what our robot friends suggest.
  
  

• Strong project management in a remote environment. You stay organized, manage timelines well, and drive work forward with minimal oversight. You’re comfortable coordinating freelancers and multiple workstreams in a fully remote setting.

• A graduate degree in a relevant field. You’ve pursued advanced studies in education, literacy, ELA, or another subject that deepens relevant instructional knowledge.
  
  

• World language or ELL experience. You speak a language other than English and/or have experience supporting multilingual learners—and that insight informs how you design inclusive, culturally responsive content.
  
  

• Familiarity with high-stakes state ELA exams. You’ve worked with state assessments like STAAR or FAST and you understand the common question types, skills, stems, and rigor used on these tests.
